U2 concert is on our horizon

Band announces plans to bring its "360 Tour" to Charlottesville in the fall

Some characters are worth more than 140 characters: As previously, frantically reported in Feedback’s Twitter account this morning, U2 will perform in Charlottesville sometime in September or October. For those of you cracking open a celebratory morning listen of War, hold your horses—ticket details are still TBA.

Depending on your take on No Line on the Horizon, the band’s new album, the tour could make for one of U2’s best stage shows in years. The group will work again with the creative team that assembled things like the enormous lemon on the PopMart tour, and a press release received this morning promises a 360-degree stage and "unobstructed view." No venue yet, but you can safely assume Scott Stadium or John Paul Jones Arena.

The release also notes that 85 percent of tickets will be priced less than $95, with general admission seats going for $55 and "’at least 10,000 tickets at every venue priced at the $30 range,’" according to U2 manager Paul McGuinness. In the grand tradition of the Internet presale, tickets will be available early through U2.com; you can also get an early glimpse of the live production here.

Maybe they’ll perform that unreleased track they did on Letterman; I think it was called "Top 10":

"No. 2: It’s never too soon to start working on a phony Irish accent."
