But where are couples honeymooning lately? Here are five top destinations, according to Peace Frogs Travel/Outfitters owner Julie Arbelaez.
Iceland
“If you like the great outdoors,” Arbelaez says, “it’s an other-worldly spot for a honeymoon.” Plus, she says, it’s combinable with other European cities—think Paris or London—if you and your honey are looking for a multi-stop trip.
Mexico and the Caribbean
Arbelaez suggests Hotel Esencia in Tulum, Viceroy Sugar Beach and Jade Mountain in St. Lucia and Como Parrot Cay on Turks & Caicos.
Hawaii
A top United States destination in 2017, honeymooners should consider uber-romantic Kauai and Maui.
Tahiti
While a little farther afield, there’s a direct flight from Los Angeles and, Arbelaez says, “some terrific, romantic and secluded resorts on nearby islands, like the St. Regis Bora Bora or the Hilton Moorea.”
At the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa, swim in your bungalow’s private plunge pool or swim with (friendly!) sharks.
