How stupid it is [December 5]

While today saw the first snowfall of the year in Charlottesville, this accident wasn't weather-related—more like idiot-related.

Ouch. Another truck hits the bridge at the intersection of University Avenue and 14th Street.

While today saw the first snowfall of the year in Charlottesville, this accident wasn’t weather-related—more like idiot-related. A truck got stuck under the 14th Street Bridge near the University of Virginia, proving once again how it’s not a given that truck drivers have an intimate knowledge of their vehicles. But there’s more to it than that. In an article last January in C-VILLE reporting on another truck-stuck incident at the same bridge, it’s noted by Charlottesville Police Sgt. L.A. Durrette that the bridge is struck often, despite an installed mechanical device that beeps loudly when an oversized vehicle is headed for the structure.
