The New Year is already bringing some changes to the local political and educational landscape. Charlottesville Tomorrow reported on their website yesterday that city Planning Commission Chairman Bill Lucy, a UVA School of Architecture professor who has served on the Commission for over three years, will be leaving his post in March as part of a sabbatical. The website quotes Lucy as saying, “I have accomplished most of the goals I had in mind, and the City Council had in mind, when I was appointed.” And a press release today from Charlottesville City Schools (CCS) announces that CHS Principal Kenneth Leatherwood will become a coordinator with CCS Human Resources department at the end of the school year. He has been a part of CHS for 31 years, first as a teacher, then as dean of students, and then as assistant principal, before stepping in to his current post.
UVA School of Architecture professor Bill Lucy is taking a sabbatical, as well as a “permanent sabbatical” from his post as chairman of the city Planning Commission. |
