Charlottesville Mayor Dave Norris kept his promise. Yesterday, he traveled to Northern Virginia to personally deliver a bust of Thomas Jefferson to Falls Church Mayor Robin Gardner, Charlottesville’s ante in the Falls Church Voter Turnout Challenge.
On November 4, Charlottesville’s turnout was 66.05 percent, 18,942 of 28,678 total voters. In Falls Church, however, 6,750 of 8,445 total voters cast their ballots, or 79.92 percent.
The placard accompanying the bust congratulated the people of Falls Church for "a job well-done and a citizenry well-engaged."
C’mon, Charlottesville! Let’s pick a contest we can win! Any ideas?
Mayor Dave Norris got a buonissimo Italian lunch out of his trip to Falls Church. He says so in his blog.
