The fight against the Meadowcreek Parkway is getting more intense. Last Saturday, a group of opponents demonstrated on the hills south of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at the 250 Bypass/McIntire Road intersection.
Yesterday, we learned that a hearing date has been set for the preliminary injunction filed to stop the construction of the MCP.
The suit, filed by The Coalition to Preserve McIntire Park, a group led by John Cruickshank of the Sierra Club and Bob Fenwick of SaveMcIntire.com, argues that City Council sold land to the Virginia Department of Transportation without three-quarters majority, which it contends is a violation of the state constitution. (The city attorney disagrees.)
The hearing is set for Wednesday, March 18 at 2pm in front of retired Charlottesville Judge Jay Sweet.
