Habitat for Humanity conducts survey of Southwood residents

The survey will be conducted on May 30 and June 1.

Habitat for Humanity will conduct a survey of the residents of Southwood Mobile Homes on May 30 and June 1, according to a press release.

The survey will gauge residents’ need for social services; it will ask residents how the existing social services agencies are serving them; and, finally, it will involve the residents in the redevelopment process.

Southwood, acquired by Habitat in 2007, is slated to undergo redevelopment (high-density, mixed-income, mixed-use community) and will include affordable housing units. The community is located off Fifth Street Extended in Albemarle County.

In the city, the Charlottesville Redevelopment Housing Authority has begun a similar master planning process for the redevelopment of its public housing sites.
