McDonnell leads by 8 points in new poll

McDonnell’s biggest lead is in the Shenandoah/Piedmont region, where he leads 60 percent to Deeds’ 28 percent, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

According to a new poll from the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell is leading Democratic counterpart Creigh Deeds by 8 points, with 12 percent of surveyed voters undecided.

Deeds has the lead only in the Northern Virginia region with 51 percent against 42 percent for McDonnell. Seven percent of those polled were undecided.

McDonnell’s biggest lead is in the Shenandoah/Piedmont region, where he leads 60 percent to Deeds’ 28 percent.

Interestingly, 47 percent of Independents favor McDonnell, while 33 percent favor Deeds, leaving 20 percent still undecided.

Women favor Deeds, 45 percent to 40 percent, and African-Americans overwhelmingly support Deeds 81 percent to 9 percent.
