Virginia Tech 61 Virginia 55

The Wahoos just did not have what it took to win this evening in Blacksburg as their bitter rival Virginia Tech found a way to win 61-55.

Virginia’s NCAA Tournament chances all but disappeared in front of almost 10,000 blacked-out Hokie fans at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg this evening. The Hokies were led by Jeff Allen’s solid performance (13 points) on both ends of the court. Tech won their 20th game of the season 61-55 , and looked much like a potential ACC champion this evening as much as that makes me sick to my stomach. Virginia shot only 32.8 % from the field and a horrific 3-18 from three-point-land.

The Hoos were led by Mike Scott’s 20 points and Sylven Landesberg’s 17 points. Hats off to the Hokies as they just had more in their tanks down the stretch. Virginia heads to Maryland Monday for the snow make-up game, and then returns to Charlottesville Wednesday to meet Florida State. Go Hoos!
