WNRN DJ was a victim of random parkway shootings

Tim Davis, host of "The Boombox," was in serious condition yesterday.

Timothy Davis, WNRN‘s operations manager, is one of two victims in what appears to be a random shooting that took place on the Blue Ridge Parkway on Monday. The 27-year-old Davis and an 18-year-old Palmyra woman apparently pulled over on the scenic road to watch the sunset when a man with thinning gray hair, driving a red or maroon passenger car, opened shotgun fire.

The blast knocked Davis, who suffers from muscular dystrophy, 150′ down the mountainside. He is being treated at the UVA Medical Center, where he is in serious condition. The woman is in stable condition.

“He’s still in serious condition," says Maynard Sipes, chairman of the station’s board of directors. "But that’s all we know right now.” Sipes was looking forward to an update on Davis’ condition early this afternoon.

Under the moniker DJ Prolapse, Davis hosts "The Boombox on WNRN," which runs from 10pm to midnight on weekdays. More below.

The FBI is now involved in a search for the unknown gunman. The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported that police are investigating a link between the shooting and a similar "unsolved slayings of two Virginia Tech students in the Jefferson National Forest," according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
