Virginia Lacrosse wins ACC Championship 10-6 over Maryland Terrapins!

The Hoos win their first ACC Championship since the 2006 season! Go Hoos!

No. 1 seed Virginia won their 6th ACC Championship today on arch-rival Maryland’s home field 10-6. Sunday’s ACC Championship is their first since 2006. Behind the outstanding goaltending of Adam Ghitelman, who had 16 saves today, the Hoos dominated the game in almost every statistical category. Virginia improved to 13-1 on the 2010 season with their only loss coming to the pesky Duke Blue Devils.

Virginia was led by Rhamel Bratton, and Steele Stanwick who both finished with 2 goals and one assist. The Hoos were 19/20 on clears, won the ground-ball battle 32-28, and also had seven different players score.

Maryland started the contest up 3-0, but the Hoos quickly got back on top and simply never looked back. Ghitelman and the Virginia defense played a splendid game today.

The Hoos finish up the regular season with Senior Day at home on Saturday, May 1 against Robert Morris. If the Hoos win Saturdays game, they will very likely earn the No. 1 seed going into the NCAA Tournament. Go Hoos!
