The summer storm that landed on Charlottesville yesterday afternoon wrecked havoc in the area, from fallen trees to power lines and debris on roads, houses and cars.
This morning, the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority (RWSA) announced that the McIntire Recycling Center was damaged in the storm and is temporarily without power. It will remain closed today until approximately 1pm.
“We regret the inconvenience to the public, but it is simply not safe for the public to be at the center until crews remove the fallen trees,” says Tom Frederick, RWSA’s executive director in a news release.
“We are at least fortunate that power has been restored to the area this morning and we intend to reopen the facility as soon as it is safe for the public to do so.”
