In this week’s C-VILLE: Film reviewer extraordinaire Jon Kiefer reviews The Girl Who Played With Fire, the second Swedish film adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s bestselling "Millennium" trilogy, now playing at Vinegar Hill Theatre; plus, I reviewed Saturday’s Willie Nelson & Family show and discuss a recent donation from Dave Matthews Band’s Bama Works Fund to a local arts organization.
And now for some news:
No confirmation from the filmmakers yet, but the Orlando Sentinel reports that The Parking Lot Movie will air on PBS this fall, opening the public station’s season of "Independent Lens"—the ongoing showcase that’s "a film festival in your living room". Should be a nice bit of exposure for filmmakers Meghan Eckman and Chris Hlad, who have been working the festival circuit since the movie’s local premiere. The film will also start a weeklong run in New York, according to the film’s website. Read past coverage of the film here.
