UVA Hoops Adds 2011 Commitment Darion Atkins

Tony Bennett has been working hard during the offseason. Go Hoos! Perfect timing (with the off-week for Virginia Football) for a little hoops nugget.

Well, it’s not quite hoops season yet, but Virginia has landed a class of 2011 recruit. Coach Tony Bennett got the good news today from 6-8 210 pound Landon School Junior Darion Atkins. The athletic power forward chose the Wahoos over Notre Dame. Can’t blame him have you ever been to South Bend, Indiana during basketball season? Nasty climate there!

Atkins is a 3-star recruit both by Rivals.com and ESPN. He’s an excellent defensive player, very coachable, and has over a seven foot wingspan. Virginia already has two other players committed in the 2011 class. Paul Jesperson out of Wisconsin, and Malcolm Brogdon who hails from Atlanta. The Wahoos have one-spot left for the 2011 class. Go Hoos!
