Feedback Session: The Hill and Wood

The Hill and Wood’s Sam Bush sings for us on a rooftop, and with his band in a church.

The Hill and Wood seemed to have it all in 2009. Its original lineup won UVA’s Battle of the Bands, a coveted honor that kickstarted the careers of local bands like Parachute (then Sparky’s Flaw) and Sons of Bill. So it was with a heavy heart when we learned in 2009 that the original lineup split to pursue their own projects, putting the The Hill and Wood—fittingly for a group named for the N. First Street funeral home—on ice.

We caught up with the reformed The Hill and Wood’s Sam Bush alone on a rooftop for a Feedback Session. Later in the video, he’s joined by a crack squad—Matty Metcalfe, Brian Chenault, Darrell Muller and the ubiquitous Brian Caputo on drums—that’s enjoyed various high profile gigs around town, including recent ones at the Pavilion and the Jefferson Theater. (Thanks to Gary Canino, whose live videos we’ve been enjoying over at Nailgunmedia.com, for the videos.)
