Work has finally begun. Just a few weeks after some West Main Street business owners and residents threatened the owners of the West Main parking lot at the Amtrak train station with legal action if the dust problem wasn’t solved in a timely manner, the potholes have been filled and part of the lot has been blocked off.
Peter Castiglione, co-owner of Maya Restaurant, told C-VILLE in late last month, that he was told the parking lot owners, local developers Gabe Silverman and Allan Cadgene, would try a new product called Durasoil, a polymer that can be sprayed directly on the lot’s gravel.
“So, if this works, and if they keep applying it at the appropriate time, our problem is solved for the short term. No dust, no problem,” said Castiglione.
The right side of the parking lot has been blocked off.
The equipment for filling the potholes is ready to go back to work.
A mountain of gravel awaits.
