Herd that
It seems everyone is playing in an eclectic jam fusion band, with accordions and fiddles, zydeco influences, and a roots-rock foundation these days. But, Donna the Buffalo has been doing it since the late ’80s. For more than two decades, the New York-sourced quintet has been putting together inspired, socially conscious music without the hammy pretense or amateurish cherry-picking that tends to be the thrust of similarly styled bands. With its tenth album in the works, the group’s staying power is a testament to its intrepid spirit, prolific output, and ardent following.
Saturday 1/19 $15-17, 8pm. Jefferson Theater, 110 E. Main St., Downtown Mall. 594-8499.
