More biscuits and pizza, please! This week’s restaurant news

Ace in spades
Brian Ashworth of Ace Biscuit & BBQ is making quite a name for himself in the breakfast and lunch scene. Starting January 26, the restaurant will also be open on Saturdays—no doubt good news for the weekenders he often finds banging on the door. The biscuits rarely last beyond 10:30am on weekdays, so go early on Saturday to get your fix.

In other Ace news, the restaurant’s parking lot will serve as one of the pick-up locations for the Best of What’s Around Farm’s newly launched grass fed beef CSA (Cow Supported Agriculture) starting Thursday, January 24 from 5-6:30pm. The CSA is available in single and double shares for $65 and $90 respectively, with pick-ups six times per year. Partnerships with other local artisans and businesses will be included with each package. More information can be found on Facebook or by e-mailing tracey@bestofwhatsaround.org.

Growing pangs
Since 2007, Michael and Nancy McCarthy have been wooing diners with their North Garden pizza joint, Dr. Ho’s Humble Pie. But lately, the demand for locally sourced ingredients, homemade pizza dough, and a certain lack of pretension calls for an expansion. To meet customer’s pleas for dining in more often than taking out, Dr. Ho’s dining room is growing. Stay tuned for updates. And, in the meantime, get a pie to go.
