Green happenings: Charlottesville environmental news and events

Each week, C-VILLE’s Green Scene page takes a look at local environmental news. The section’s bulletin board has information on local green events and keeps you up to date on statewide happenings. Got an event or a tip you’d like to see here and in the paper? Write us at news@c-ville.com.

Green party: Snow’s Garden Center is hosting the third annual C’ville Go Green Fest on Saturday, September 14, allowing local business owners to share their green practices and provide eco education for attendees. The fest will begin at 10am, and is free to the public. For more information, contact Denise Hood at denise@creative juicesmarketing.com.

Drink up: Every month, a group of like-minded locals who eat, sleep, and breathe green gather for beverages and discussion about Transition Charlottesville’s latest efforts. If you’re interested in meeting others who share your love for all things sustainable, check out Green Drinks at Champion Brewery on Thursday, September 12, at 6pm.

Wet ‘n’ wild: Want to bring more feathered friends to your backyard? Join nature photographer Robert Schamerhorn on Thursday, September 12, for a presentation on attracting birds to your yard using water features and equipment. The event is free and open to the public, and begins at 7pm in the Ivy Creek Foundation education building.
