What would you do if you were president? Provide funding for our opera companies and theaters just like they do in some European countries.
What advice would you give your parents? Read Voltaire’s Candide once every year. It will make you laugh. It’s important to laugh.
If you grew up to be famous, what would you want to be famous for? Composing, directing, or maybe singing.
At what age is a person an adult? What makes you think so? If one defines “adult” in terms of maturity, then it really depends on the individual. Somewhere between 17 and 20? I guess we really all mature in different ways. Most people today consider 18 the age.
What’s the hardest thing about being a kid? Knowing that you aren’t an adult.
What do you think life will be like in five years? Not sure, but I’m a bit scared about how technology is evolving. It seems like more and more today we are absorbed by our electronics and not spending enough time with family and friends. We can’t waste our life just sitting in front of our screen. There are books to read, plays to see, places to go, and people to meet.
How do you know if you’re in love? When someone you are with brings out the best in you.
What do you know how to do that you can teach to others? French, how to make crêpes, how to play the oboe/English horn.
If you could be a sound, what would you be? The fizz of a seltzer.
If you could choose a new name for yourself, what would it be? Well, my French name at school is Mathieu, so maybe that. Je ne sais pas.
