What’s happening in Charlottesville and Albemarle the week of April 14

Each week, the news team takes a look at upcoming meetings and events in Charlottesville and Albemarle we think you should know about. Consider it a look into our datebook, and be sure to share newsworthy happenings in the comments section.

  • The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors gathers from 9am-noon Tuesday, April 16 in Lane Auditorium at the County Office Building on McIntire to adopt the county budget and tax rate.
  • The Charlottesville Board of Architectural Review meets at 5:30pm Tuesday in council chambers at city hall. The BAR is set to address certificates of appropriateness for two restaurants: World of Beer, coming to 852 W. Main St., and the Red Pump Tuscan Kitchen, replacing Positively 4th Street on the Downtown Mall. Also on the agenda are a number of residential proposals, a frat house upgrade, and a proposal from the Venable Neighborhood Association to create a Rugby Road Historic Conservation District.
  • The Albemarle County Planning Commission meets from 6-8pm Tuesday in Lane Auditorium at the County Office Building. The Commission will hear a presentation on the MPO’s Long Range Transportation Plan and will consider a proposal to allow the Colonial Auto Center to expand into a plot that’s zoned residential.
  • The Albemarle County Service Authority meets from 9-11am Thursday at 168 Spotnap Road.
