Running out of ideas on how to be environmentally friendly? Check out Transition Charlottesville’s next skillshare event, “Greening little by little.” At 7pm on Monday, June 9, meet at 480 E. Rio Rd. for an interactive, hands-on discussion on everything from conserving water and energy to repairing your own clothing and impacting governmental policy.
The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) is advising landowners in Central Virginia to keep an eye on a recently proposed project that could run a new natural gas line through Culpeper, Madison, Orange, and
Louisa. Spectra Energy, a Houston-based company that installs and manages pipelines across the
country, has not yet filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Committee, but the PEC expects on-site surveys of properties along the potential route to begin soon.
Relive your childhood summer days of chasing butterflies through the yard and check out the butterfly walk at Ivy Creek Natural Center on Sunday, June 8. Enthusiast Mike Scott will begin the program with a display of the area’s butterflies and an introduction to identification skills before hitting the trails. Meet at 1pm at the Ivy Creek Foundation Education Center.
