What’s happening in Charlottesville-Albemarle the week of Sept. 15?

Each week, the news team takes a look at upcoming meetings and events in Charlottesville and Albemarle we think you should know about. Consider it a look into our datebook, and be sure to share newsworthy happenings in the comments section.

  • The Albemarle County Architectural Review Board meets at 1pm Monday, September 15 in Room 241 at the County Office Building on McIntire Road.
  • Albemarle County supervisors Ken Boyd and Brad Sheffield hold a town hall meeting for their constituents from 6:30-8:30pm Monday at Baker-Butler Elementary School.
  • The Charlottesville City Council meets at 7pm Monday in Council chambers at City Hall. The agenda includes resolutions adopting permit parking in Fifeville and addressing an appeal by Coran Capshaw-owned Downtown Mall restaurant Red Pump Kitchen of a Board of Architectural Review ruling.
  • The Charlottesville Board of Architectural Review meets at 5:30pm Tuesday, September 16 in Council chambers at City Hall. Among the agenda items is the BAR’s recommendation on Market Plaza, the development planned for Water Street and 2nd Street SW that will house the City Market.
  • The Charlottesville Housing Advisory Committee meets from noon to 2pm Wednesday, September 17 at the Water Street Center.
  • The Charlottesville Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan Advisory Committee meets from 6-8pm Wednesday at CitySpace.
  • The Crozet Community Advisory Council meets from 7:30-9:30pm Wednesday at the new Crozet Library.
  • VDOT holds a public hearing on the location of the planned Berkmar Drive extension from 5-7pm Thursday, September 18 at the DoubleTree Hotel, 990 Hilton Heights Road. Attendees can examine maps and leave comments on the project. From VDOT: “Comments may also be submitted for 10 days following the public hearing, either by email or by postal mail. Those comments should be addressed to Robert Strevell, Project Manager, Virginia Department of Transportation, 1601 Orange Road, Culpeper, VA 22701. Comments may also be emailed to Robert.Strevell@vdot.virginia.gov. Please reference “Berkmar Drive Extension Location Hearing Comment” in the subject line.”
