What’s happening in Charlottesville-Albemarle the week of Nov. 3?

Each week, the news team takes a look at upcoming meetings and events in Charlottesville and Albemarle we think you should know about. Consider it a look into our datebook, and be sure to share newsworthy happenings in the comments section.

  • The Charlottesville City Council meets from 7-1opm Monday, November 3 in Council chambers at City Hall. The agenda includes a public hearing on the abandonment of a sewer easement near Valley Road and a resolution approving $10,000 for a workplace skills training program.
  • The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors meets from 1-9pm Wednesday, November 5 in Lane Auditorium at the County Office Building on McIntire Road. Included on the agenda: action on the 2015 legislative priorities list; a presentation of the public engagement plan developed by the Long Range Solid Waste Solutions Advisory Committee;  the Natural Heritage Committee’s Annual Report; and an update on local Ebola preparedness.
  • The Charlottesville Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee meets from 5-7pm Thursday, November 6 in the basement conference room at City Hall.
  • The Charlottesville Business Innovation Council holds a panel discussion from 5-8pm Thursday at The Haven to discuss how local start-ups and established businesses, schools, and other organizations view and use working space. Panelists include Tim Miano, cofounder of SP@CE; Carrie Roth, executive director of Virginia Biotechnology Research Park; and Delegate David Toscano, the Democratic leader of Virginia’s House and a key voice in infrastructure and land use issues in state government.
