Rather than knock down their modest brick Cape Cod on Park Street, homeowners David Heilbronner and Lynn Valentine enlisted architect Candace Smith to completely reimagine its footprint. “There was a sense about the old house that felt good, if you could look past the problems,” Heilbronner says. When they realized the view was continually pulling them outdoors, homeowners Shahir and Nancy Kassam-Adams decided to add a pool and poolhouse to their mostly wooded Nelson County property, which, from the forest edge, looks down over an open, sloping field toward a layered mountain vista.
