The future for Virginia Governor Tim Kaine is not uncertain. President-elect Barack Obama has selected Kaine to be the next chairman of the Democratic National Committee. Kaine will succeed current chairman Howard Dean.
The New York Times reports that, because Kaine’s term as governor expires at the end of 2009, he will serve as chairman in a part-time capacity until January 2010, and will have the help of an executive director dedicated to daily operations. He is barred constitutionally from seeking re-election as governor.
In related news, on Saturday, former DNC chairman Terence McAuliffe announced his intention to run for governor of Virginia.
Govenor Tim Kaine was an early supporter of Barack Obama. The two are graduates of Harvard Law School.
