To add to a deluge of appointments and announcements in the past weeks, UVA has  announced the launch of the Tibet Center.

The center represents the culmination of decades of research by UVA faculty and it is intended to expand the Tibetan research program at the University. Located in Minor Hall, the Center will promote Tibetan culture, society and history, but it will also provide a forum for constructive analysis of issues involving Tibet-China relations.

And we are not done yet. The Center will also promote the work of faculty to change the approach of Tibetan tourists so that they’re more sensitive to their impact on the places they visit.
