At a time when mom and pop stores at the east end of the Downtown Mall seem to be disappearing at an alarming rate (see Sage Moon Gallery and Innisfree), Urban Outfitters‘ opening today marks the first major chain clothing retailer to come to the Mall. Just minutes before 10am, a small swarm of teenagers huddled in front of the door.
Urban Outfitters will donate 10 percent of the sales of the first three days to Charlottesville’s Music Resource Center, a facility located on Ridge Street where teens participate in music production.
Urban Outfitters is located at 316 E. Main S., in the old Hardware Store building. The store will be open 10am to 9pm Monday through Thursday, 10am to 10pm Friday and Saturday and 11am to 7pm on Sunday.
