Landmark Hotel owner Halsey Minor reacts to bank failure

He says that the hotel will be built, despite the fact that Charlottesville "took away the fun of building it."

Just a few days after Atlanta-based Silverton Bank, the funder behind the Downtown Mall’s unfinished Landmark Hotel, was shut down by the FDIC, owner Halsey Minor says via e-mail to C-VILLE that the project will be completed:

“I knew the bank was going under and I shouted it into the wind. Mostly, I am disappointed by the way some people have acted in my hometown. No one defaces the hotel down the street that got tens of millions of today dollars and tax breaks. They deface the building built during the most sever [sic] recession since world war II and one that slowly killed the bank funding the project. Somehow I am at fault for the economy, bank failing, I went broke, etc., etc.  Go figure.

"Charlottesville, I will finish the project but you took away the fun of building it for the community.”
