John Martin resigns from Albemarle board over Charlottesville water plan amednments

City Council’s move to modify the 2006 water supply plan prompted his resignation from the Albemarle County Service Authority (ACSA) Board of Directors.

City Council’s vote earlier this week to modify the 2006 water supply plan has led one member of the Albemarle County Service Authority (ACSA) Board of Directors to resign, effectively immediately.

Charlottesville Tomorrow reports that John Martin has left his position with ACSA because he felt city’s elected officials are set to change the water plan.

Just two days ago, ACSA, City Council, Albemarle County Board of Supervisors and the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority met to discuss the amendments to the plan Council had approved at Monday’s meeting.

Among the modifications approved by Council is maintenance dredging of the South Fork Reservoir.

At the meeting, Martin expressed his view that the 2006 water plan was “the best plan” and said he did not know “why the city is rejecting it.”
