Duke vs. UVA. Again. [April 25]

We're a few hours from the start of the Atlantic Coastal Conference Lacrosse finals, and Duke already has the barest of psychological edges over the No. 3 UVA squad.

We’re a few hours from the start of the Atlantic Coastal Conference Lacrosse finals, and Duke already has the barest of psychological edges over the No. 3 UVA squad. During a reception on Thursday night, four Duke players—among them, the team’s three-man attack unit, including ACC all-time leading scorer Matt Danowski—were named to the 2008 All-ACC team. The Cavaliers added three players—attackers Ben Rubeor and Danny Glading and midfielder Brian Carroll—to the squad.

Thing is, UVA needs every advantage it can wrap its gloves around. The Cavs dropped the 2007 championship to Duke, 12-9, and could wind up playing the Blue Devils in the finals if UVA manages to upset No. 2 seed University of Maryland. We could also use a little bit of a boost after a feature in today’s Richmond Times-Dispatch mentioned that probable starting goalie Michael "Bud" Petit had cried periodically in coach Dom Starsia’s office. Man up, Bud.

Starsia tells No. 3 Seed: There’s no crying in lacrosse!
