What’s coming up in Charlottesville the week of 10/22

Each week, the news team takes a look at upcoming meetings and events in Charlottesville and Albemarle we think you should know about. Consider it a look into our datebook, and be sure to share newsworthy happenings, too.

  • The Rivanna River Basin Commission meets from noon to 2pm Monday at the County Office Building to go over its 2012 audit report and get updates on water quality and land use issues around the watershed.
  • On Tuesday, the Rivanna Water & Sewer Authority Board of Directors meets from 2:15 to 4pm, and the agenda includes, among other things, the site plan for the planned Route 29 pump station.
  • The Albemarle County Planning Commission meets from 6 to 8pm Tuesday. On that agenda: A couple of wireless tower approvals and a public hearing on the addition of a 270 acre parcel to the Carter’s Bridge Agricultural and Forestal District.
  • This week brings two “One Community Conversations” meetings, held by the Livable Communities Planning Project as a way for local residents to discuss community planning in the city and county. The first gathering is Wednesday at the Lodge at Old Trail in Crozet; the second is Thursday at martha Jefferson Hospital. Both run from 6 to 8pm.   • The city hold the second of three fall meetings on its Comprehensive Plan this Thursday from 6-8pm at Venable Elementary School. The plan is due for an overhaul in the next year, and the meetings allow the public to offer comments and get a look at land use maps.
