Finish strong
You’ve got one last week to celebrate Virginia wine month, so plan your outings now. On Saturday, October 27 from noon-5pm, Early Mountain Vineyards will throw its first Fall Family Festival with tractor rides, pumpkin decorating, face painting, and tasty eats for kiddos, while the grown-ups enjoy local wines, beer, and food. Then, at Blenheim Vineyards at 5pm, Ace Biscuit & Barbecue’s roasting a whole pig for a family-style dinner with wines and live music on the side. Get your $50 ticket by e-mailing tracey@blenheimvineyards.com. For something a bit fancier, head to Tempo on Tuesday, October 30 for a four-course “Jefferson’s Paris” wine-pairing dinner. E-mail events@tempocville.com for reservations.

Bid brunch adieu
Love Maya’s Sunday brunch? Get your final fix on Sunday, October 28, the restaurant’s final brunch service. It’s only dinner seven nights a week from November on out.

Just enough chefs in the kitchen
On Monday, October 29, Clifton Inn’s Tucker Yoder will open his kitchen to Maya’s Christian Kelly, Ivy Inn’s Angelo Vangelopoulos, and The Roosevelt’s Lee Gregory for a collaborative four-course family-style dinner at 7pm. A portion of the proceeds from the $75/person cost goes to the No Kid Hungry charity. Call 971-1800 for reservations.

Stick or treat
While Gearhart’s exceeds the quality of most Halloween loot, it’s made a chocolate-caramel apple with spiced pecans that’s available from October 29-31. Those wise enough to preorder these $8 treats that are as heavy as they are irresistible should call 972-9100 to secure your stash.
