Oh, mother! Charlottesville street style

AMY, a full-time mom of two little ones, ages 2 and 5, was meeting a friend at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards for some vino and pizza when I spotted her. She paired her mustard yellow Anthropologie sweater cape with jeans from Gap, Frye boots, and a classic Coach bag. Very understated in the flash department, but set off just enough with a turquoise necklace pinched from her mom.

I saw landscape architect and soon-to-be stepmom ZOE waiting on the Downtown Mall to meet a friend for lunch. Her funky, square-toed wingtips came from Germany and the coat is a hand-me-down from a friend. Her slacks are from Anthropologie and the gloves she got at Downtown vintage shop Low. A designer by trade, she knitted her own hat and scarf.

MARISELA, a mother of three—ages 21, 22, and 25—and proprietor of Fredericksburg ladies resale boutique Sequels, showed up in Charlottesville for Trader Joe’s grand opening. She sported a top and slacks from J. Crew, Frye boots, and a vest from Sustain. “What really brings it together, though,” she said (and I agree), “is the scarf,” also from Sustain. Her bag is Longchamp, eyeglasses are Versace, and her watch is Michael Kors. Her ring is from Scarpa and the rest of her accessories are out of her own shop.
