Former C&O owner and legend Dave Simpson died Tuesday, April 29 after being hospitalized following a heart attack. Friends say Simpson was known for his overwhelming kindness and hospitality, and his family has arranged a memorial service that will allow the entire community to come together to celebrate his life.
The memorial will begin at 1pm on Sunday, May 4, at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion. Simpson’s fiancée Judy Berger said the mic will be open for anyone who wants to say a few words, and following the memorial will be a “Dave Simpson style gathering” at the C&O, with food, drinks, and pictures everywhere.
“We just want everybody to come and gather to weep and laugh and just remember all the wonderful things about him,” Berger said. “That’s what he would want.”
