- Tonight’s Charlottesville City Council meeting—7pm today, Monday, June 16 in Council chambers at City Hall—is a big one. The Council is expected to make two big design decisions: whether to build a conventional bridge to replace the aging Belmont Bridge or go with an underpass option; and which of four proposed designs to select for the future City Market. There’s also a follow-up report on racial disparities in the juvenile justice system and a resolution concerning downzoning in the Fry’s Spring neighborhood.
- The Charlottesville Board of Architectural Review meets at 5:30pm Tuesday, June 17 in Council chambers at City Hall. Among the agenda items: the Venable Neighborhood Association’s application to establish a Rugby Road Historic Conservation District.
- The Albemarle County Planning Commission meets from 6-9pm Tuesday, June 17 in Lane Auditorium at the County Office Building on McIntire Road. The agenda includes a proposal to rezone a 20-plus acre plot along the railroad tracks in downtown Crozet from heavy industrial-commercial to mixed-use commercial and residential, allowing up to 200 residential units on the site of the old Barnes Lumber property.
- Charlottesville holds an open house from 4:30-6:30pm Wednesday, June 18 at CitySpace to kick off the new bike and pedestrian plan. Toole Design Group will present the plan at 5:30pm.
