What’s happening in Charlottesville-Albemarle the week of August 12?

  • The Charlottesville Planning Commission meets from 5:30-9pm Tuesday, August 12 in Council chambers at City Hall, preceded by a 4:30-5:30pm gathering in the Neighborhood Development Services conference room. The agenda includes a public hearing on the rezoning of part of the Fry’s Spring neighborhood from two-family to single-family residential.
  • The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors meets from 4-11pm Wednesday, August 13 in Lane Auditorium at the County Office Building on McIntire. On the agenda: a public hearing on a special use permit rejected earlier by the county planning commission to allow for the expansion of the Regents School, a small private school in Ivy; the creation of an Economic Development Office; and the expansion of the “Photosafe” program at the intersection of Greenbrier Drive and Route 29.
  • A representative from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission will be at Downtown’s CitySpace for the Commission’s regular monthly visit from 10am-5pm Thursday, August 14. To schedule an appointment call Zan Tewksbury at 434-970-3023.
  • The PLACE Design Task Force meets at noon on Thursday. Call Neighborhood Development Services at 434-970-3182 for meeting location.
  • The Albemarle County School Board meets from 6:30-9:30pm Thursday in Lane Auditorium at the County Office Building on McIntire.
