At home with… Kelly Witt

A graduate of UVA’s School of Architecture, interior designer Kelly Witt got her start at Elena’s, in the same building where her design studio—a stylish mecca of fabric samples and inspiration—is currently located. From there, she lends a tailored and traditional eye to homes in Charlottesville and, currently, as far flung as Florida. We caught up with her to see what she’s into right now.

What are you currently reading?
Burr by Gore Vidal. Its mix of epic history and salacious gossip is irresistible. Also Richard Scarry’s Cars and Trucks and Things that Go. For the 96th time.

What are you listening to? Serial.

What are you watching on TV? I’m looking forward to the final season of “Justified.”

What are you eating/drinking lately? My husband is a talented amateur cook, so we eat a lot of interesting food. Last weekend we had confit of partridge and root vegetables with puff pastry. Drinking? Water and coffee during the day, wine at night.

What are you working on? I’m doing a beach house on the Gulf Coast of Florida, from the ground up. It’s an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a great client in a beautiful setting.

Kelly’s favorite room is…
The dining room. “It’s the most formal room in the house,” she said, “but it’s cozy and filled with sentimentally important things. Dinner is our favorite part of the day, and as a family we’ve had a lot of wonderful little moments over good food.”
