Kentucky native Ben Sollee is quickly becoming a household name thanks to his innovative songwriting and inventive approach to the cello. Using his bow and his right hand, he slaps and plucks chords creating a full groove that sounds more like a trio than a soloist. His recent credits include touring the U.S. and Europe as a headlining solo artist, collaborating with Abigail Washburn and Béla Fleck as a member of The Sparrow Quartet, and working with Jim James of My Morning Jacket and Daniel Martin Moore on a record about land preservation in their shared home state.
Sunday 3/15. $12-15, 8pm. The Southern Café and Music Hall, 103 S. First St. 977-5590.
