Let’s talk local. You shop it, you buy it, you eat it, but have you ever shot it? We asked area photogs to send in their pictures of Charlottesville and they gave it their all: Images of local hotspots, buskers on the Downtown Mall and concert photos—among other things—came rolling in. In the end though, our judges felt three of the photos rose to the top, plus nearly a dozen honorable mentions. Here are your winners. Talk about picture perfect!

Meet the judges
As the Artistic and Executive Director of Live Arts, John Gibson has enjoyed an 18-year-long photography master class, peering over Will Kerner’s shoulder at photo calls.
Geoff Luck is an award-winning filmmaker and artist whose work has appeared on PBS, Discovery, Showtime, Sundance, National Geographic and at the Museum of Modern Art. He currently works as a producer and director for National Geographic Television.
Ashley Twiggs is a freelance photographer whose work appears regularly in C-VILLE and other publications, including The Christian Science Monitor, USA Today and Rolling Stone. She was a Staff Photographer for a newspaper in New Jersey before moving to Charlottesville and has her M.A. in Journalism from the University of Missouri.
