Tea Party gang to target Perriello on Friday

Group will present Congressman with spending grievances and petition at his Charlottesville office on Friday afternoon.

On Tax Day, hundreds gathered on the Downtown Mall to raise a stink about government spending, joining a nationwide micro-movement that spawned dozens of tea bag jokes and brought new life to "The Rachel Maddow Show."

Now the group, led by Jefferson Area Tea Party chair Bill Hay and Keith Drake of the Albemarle Truth in Taxation Alliance, will bring their petition, signed on April 15, to Congressman Tom Perriello. They plan to visit his office at 4pm on Friday following speeches at the Free Speech Monument. Among their grievances: "burgeoning spending, corporate and bank bailouts, as well as nationalization of healthcare."

Huh. We’re confused on that last point, as last time we checked, 47 million Americans, or 16 percent, were without health insurance. Maybe the tea baggers can explain that "nationalization" bit when they meet the Congressman tomorrow at 313 Second St, SE.
