Seminole Square movie theater gets stadium seating!

Nearly two years ago, a C-VILLE intern named Kyle Daly dared to dream the impossible, strove to see the invisible. "Why doesn’t Charlottesville have a movie theater with stadium seating?" asked Daly. Nearly two years later, an answer has made its way back to those of us who wake with Daly’s question on the tip of our tongues every morning.

The theater formerly known as Regal Seminole Square 4 is getting an upgrade, according to an announcement from Regal Entertainment Group. The details? Nine auditoriums, each with stadium seating, digital projection, and "high-back rocking recliner seats." Rocking, indeed. Read more about the new Regal Seminole Trail Stadium 9 here.

If only Daly were here to celebrate this news with us. Unfortunately, if my guess is correct, he won’t return until all of his wishes have been met. Which means one of these.

Day 116: This is the end

In The Sound of Music, when the von Trapp family wanted to say goodbye, they’d line up and sing a song.

When Lawrence Welk wanted to end a show, a gaggle of performers with perfectly coiffed hair and matching outfits would sing their way to the closing credits.

And when Brick Watch decides it’s time to call it quits, we think singing is also the best option. JK! We choose to create a video interview with (who else?) Chris Weatherford and test out some high heels on our brand-new bricks. Plus, we give you one heck of a playlist with all 20 BW videos! Let’s start now.

Hey brickies? We sure have enjoyed ourselves. We’ll check in every now and then (read: Monday and Tuesday) as developments arise (read: City Council convenes to evaluate the project). But—much like the Mall—for all intents and purposes, we’re done.

If we haven’t said so already, we’ve had a great time and we hope we’ve left a lasting brickpression on your hearts. We’ll see you again real soon. …On the Mall. Naturally.

Slowpoke cartoonist and C-VILLE contributor in weekend WaPo

Jen Sorensen, the brains (and steady hand) behind Slowpoke Comics and a contributor to C-VILLE, has a keen eye for irony, a natural curiosity and an enviable control over every punchline she throws. This weekend’s Wahsington Post does a nice job praising her work (and letting her strut her stuff in her own words) in Michael Cavna’s "Comic Riffs" column, which you can read here.

For your Slowpoke encore, read our review of Sorensen’s latest book, One Nation, Oh My God! And be sure to read Slowpoke in C-VILLE each week!
