Latest Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers film released [VIDEO]

Elsewhere: Reading about the Weinsteins, thinking about ATO Pictures

It’s film day at the Feedback desk today. C-VILLE’s online editor, Caitlin White, is prepping a secretive (and sugary) video for her 24th birthday tomorrow, to be screened on our website. And I just returned from NBC29, where I filled in for C-VILLE editor Cathy Harding in her weekly cultural segment, "The Scene." Cameras abound!

As does footage. This morning, Cathy Harding sent me an e-mail with a link to footage from the last Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers bout, dubbed "Thrilla in C’villa." You can watch the film below:

For those of you looking for a gag reel, I can’t help you out. But I can steer you towards some fantastic bonus reading: David Segal wrote a top-notch story on the current state of the Weinstein Company in Saturday’s New York Times. It’s the sort of tale that makes you wonder how ATO Pictures is faring at present, especially with a big screen adaptation of Don DeLillo’s End Zone in production.

I’ve always been eager for our city to become more of a film destination (for audiences and filmmakers alike), but the Times article hints at questions that concern everything from theaters like Vinegar Hill Theatre to events like the Virginia Film Festival, things that define our local cinematic community. Can Charlottesville maintain its film identity as it exists now? What should change? What should stay the same? And, action.
