Ah, the Internet—gathering place for "Idols" and "Supermodels," Chicks and cats, locals and New Yorkers:
- Fluvanna County native and former "American Idol" contestant/"my name could be your band" arena rocker Chris Daughtry is coming to John Paul Jones Arena on Friday, November 20. The gig is listed on Pollstar.com, and confirmed on Chris Daughtry’s website. No details on the JPJ site yet about ticket sales, but Daughtry’s website says that you can purchase them starting September 19. I wonder if Eric Rezsnyak would come back to town for the gig…
- When the first three gigs were announced for The Southern Café and Music Hall, Feedback was most excited about Jolie Holland’s September 20 set. Thanks to Holland’s recently recorded Daytrotter Session, Feedback can share the excitement. Give it a listen (and download it for free!).
- While we’re talking about The Southern, it looks like the first gig may come a day earlier than expected. Chick Tragic & the Roosters—the rootsy act led by Carleigh Nesbit and Carl Anderson—announced a September 17 gig at The Southern on the band’s MySpace page.
- The genesis of Parachute? Locals know that the band began as Sparky’s Flaw. Well, New Yorker music writer Sasha Frere-Jones posted his own Parachute creation theory on Twitter. And it ain’t pretty.
- And, while we’re talking tweets, you can follow our locally grown "Make Me a Supermodel" contestant, Colin Steers, on Twitter. Which I highly recommend, given a recent post in which he links to this video:
