Perriello holds commanding $1.5 million lead in July quarterly FEC filings

The Fifth District Democrat has more than $1.7 million on hand, compared to Republican Senator Robert Hurt’s $215,954

Fifth District Democratic incumbent Tom Perriello is heading towards the November Congressional elections with funds a-blazin’. According to the latest round of campaign finance reports, Perriello had more than $1.7 million on hand as of the July 15 filing deadline. Republican challenger and state Senator Robert Hurt reported $215,954 on hand by the same date—along with $85,000 or so in debts and obligations owed by his committee, compared to $3,000 for Perriello.

There is no record on the Federal Election Committee’s website for Danville businessman and Independent candidate Jeffrey Clark, who launched his bid for the Fifth District seat in response to Hurt’s victory in the June 8 GOP primary. The next filing deadline for campaign finance reports is October 15.
