While The Donald keeps his golf clubs in the bag and considers the future of his Virginia winery—Trumpicello, anyone?—former owners Patricia Kluge and Bill Moses still have financial matters to resolve with Farm Credit of the Virginias. The bank, which holds a $34.8 million lien on the Albemarle House mansion, filed an additional $1.9 million civil suit when Kluge allegedly consigned a few personal items that she pledged as collateral.
Now, following the winery auction and work by Farm Credit and Bank of America ($22.8 million lienholder for Albemarle House) to divide the mansion from the items held inside, Farm Credit is almost ready to hand Kluge and Moses the grand total. Almost. A May 16 jury trial date set for Farm Credit’s $34.8 million contract action was continued to July 8. Farm Credit attorney William Shmidheiser III tells C-VILLE that the trial will establish the amount of money owed to the bank.
