Waterhouse meets tax rebate deadline, WorldStrides moves in

The big accomplishment, according to developer Bill Atwood, was constructing 133,000 square feet in 14 months

Local architect and developer Bill Atwood—whose ambitious Waterhouse project was the subject of a C-VILLE feature—says his anchor tenant, student travel business WorldStrides, moves in today. WorldStrides had previously extended its lease on Peter Jefferson Parkway by one month while construction crews raced to meet a deadline for a tax increment financing rebate.

Atwood told C-VILLE today that the race was handily won. The big accomplishment, he added, was "constructing 133,000 square feet in 14 months." The $20 million mixed-use building should welcome its first residential guests after the winter holidays.
