Huguely trial: Notices mailed to potential jurors

Potential jurors for the murder trial of the former UVA lacrosse player George Huguely will be notified during the next few days

Potential jurors for the murder trial of former UVA lacrosse player George Huguely will be notified during the next few days, according to the Charlottesville Circuit Court. Those individuals that receive jury duty slips must report to an orientation scheduled for December 19.

Jurors will respond to a questionnaire that helps both counsels and Judge Edward Hogshire determine prior exposure to media coverage of Huguely’s arrest and trial. The questionnaire has not been revealed to the public.

Huguely, who has yet to appear in Charlottesville Circuit Court, recently waived November court appearances concerning jury selection questions. Charged with the slaying of former girlfriend and fellow UVA lacrosse player Yeardley Love, Huguely has remained at the Albemare-Charlottesville Regional Jail since May 2010.

Additionally, the City of Charlottesville recently announced that its communications office and the Charlottesville Clerk of Court will maintain an RSS feed to provide media and public with timely information about case documents. The page also has a webcam pointed to the intersection nearest the courthouse. (View it here.)
