Meet the new water supply plan. Same as the old water supply plan? That remains to be seen.
After more than a few studies and evaluations of dredging costs for the South Fork Rivanna Reservoir and construction cost projections for a new Ragged Mountain dam, Charlottesville City Council unanimously approved a 50-year community water supply plan, with a few clarifications.
Council meets today with the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors, the Rivanna Water & Sewer Authority and the Albemarle County Service Authority to discuss a few proposed modifications to the plan before approval. Proposed modifications include maintenance dredging of the South Fork Reservoir and phased construction of a 42′ dam at Ragged Mountain reservoir, as well as a reevaluation of the 50-year plan every decade, based on demand and population growth.
