Schilling: Republican may declare City Council candidacy

In a blog post about Democratic City Council candidate Peter McIntosh’s decision to shutter his campaign, Schilling suggests that the candidate field may see another surprise

In a blog post about Democratic City Council candidate Peter McIntosh’s decision to shutter his campaign three weeks in, local conservative radio show host Rob Schilling suggests that the candidate field may see another surprise.

"A Republican candidate is rumored to be announcing shortly," writes Schilling.

The host of WINA’s "The Schilling Show" served on Charlottesville City Council from 2002 to 2006, when Democrats Dave Norris and Julian Taliaferro were voted in. Prior to Schilling’s term, a Republican had not been elected to council since 1986. In a predominately Democratic city, Schilling seems like the sort of person who may know the identity of this potential mystery candidate. Any guesses out there?
